Secrets of Didko Farm and Mini-Kertika: How We Grow Our Own Products for Your Breakfasts

A vacation in the Carpathians is about naturalness in everything. Clean air, the silence of the mountains and simple but authentic tastes. In Voyevodyno, we decided to go even further and make naturalness a part of our daily menu. After all, the taste of a real Carpathian vacation begins not with the views, but with breakfast.

At Vojvodino, we are convinced that the quality of your vacation directly depends on the quality of your products. That is why we have created our own Grandfather-farm and mini-curtsy, so that our guests can start the day with natural, seasonal and truly fresh products. Here we grow vegetables, greens and herbs that appear on our guests' tables every morning. These are not just local products, they are food from our own land, grown with care.

Why we called it “Grandpa Farm”

This name is not a marketing invention. It is a tribute to the traditional economic system of Transcarpathian villages, where each house had its own garden, each family knew the taste of its own onions and dill. Here, the old man has long been called a householder-housekeeper, who gets up before sunrise and works before breakfast.

We wanted to restore this economic and caring spirit of Transcarpathia. When vegetables are not just a product, but the result of daily work, when greens and vegetables are not bought, but collected early in the morning from their own garden.

Grandfather Farm: Renaissance of Transcarpathian Gardening

The name “Didko-ferma” refers to local traditions, but our approach to business is completely professional. In these fields we grow what forms the basis of our menu from local products. Simple, but incredibly flavorful vegetables grow here:

  • potatoes – crumbly and aromatic, grown in rich mountain soil. They become the ideal basis for traditional Transcarpathian deruny;
  • carrots, beets, and celery – thanks to the clean mountain air, they have a natural sweetness that traditional Transcarpathian cuisine is famous for;
  • Seasonal vegetables – cucumbers, tomatoes, radishes, lettuce, zucchini, cabbage, pumpkins are harvested at the peak of their vitamin value.

If Didko Farm is about satiety, then the mini-kertik right on the resort is about aromas and aesthetics. It is a small space where products are grown that add special charm and taste to dishes:

  • spicy herbs - rosemary, thyme and basil for meat delicacies;
  • vitamin greens - our favorites are crispy salads, dill, parsley, basil, mint, lemon balm, savory, chives. They are cut every morning, while there is still dew. It is at this time that the greens are the most fragrant and tender;
  • Herbs for tea – mint and lemon balm from our mini garden have a completely different, deeper aroma than any packaged analogue.

“For a chef, having your own farm is like having your own palette for an artist. When I cook vegetables from our “Grandpa Farm,” I don’t need a lot of spices, because they have their own deep, authentic flavor. Every carrot or sprig of basil from our garden is a guarantee that our guests will get a real taste on their plate,” the resort’s chef shares his thoughts.

Where to eat deliciously in the Carpathians? Where the journey of vegetables from the garden to the plate is measured in minutes. We do not use aggressive chemicals - only the mountain sun, spring water and the caring hands of our employees.

Farm guests: for those who want to touch the earth

The Grandfather Farm is not a closed area. On the contrary, we are happy when guests come to take a look, smell the fragrant basil straight from the bush, pick a tomato and eat it just like that, standing between the beds.

For children, this is a separate entertainment. Many city children see for the first time what a dill or potato bush looks like. Watching a child discover for himself that food grows in a garden is one of the warmest moments at the resort.

If you want, you can even help pick herbs or vegetables for your own breakfast. It's not mandatory, but there are always those who want to.

Why it matters: food as part of relaxation

People go to the Carpathians to take a break from the city rhythm, breathe clean air without exhaust fumes, and hear the silence. But food is also part of relaxation.

We follow the global trend of “farm to table”, providing relaxation and health in the mountains and through quality food. Every breakfast we have in Voevodyno it's the result of our internal ecosystem. You know that the products didn't travel hundreds of kilometers in plastic, but came to your kitchen straight from your own farm, preserving their freshness and natural taste.

We don't call ourselves an eco-resort for the sake of a buzzword. We simply do what we believe is right – we care about the land, about the food, and about our guests.

That is why breakfasts, lunches and dinners in restaurants Vojvodino resort is not just food, but another part of relaxation, filled with the energy of the mountains and the care of our farm.
