Wine list of Transcarpathia: looking for the truth next to "Voevodyno"

Usually, the Carpathians are associated with mountains, shepherds, trembites... But what about wine? After all, Transcarpathia is one of the centers of wine production. And what is important, the grapes, from which a noble drink is then prepared, grow here in ecologically clean conditions, which cannot help but affect the quality of the wine.

Therefore, going to rest in the Carpathians, be sure to set aside time to visit private wine cellars. Winemakers are surprisingly friendly people who arouse affection from the first minute of communication. They will be happy to tell you about their craft, about grapes and about the culture of drinking. No tour of a large enterprise can compare with the heartfelt story of a person who literally lives for his business.

Where exactly should you go?

Karl Karlovych Shosh is the owner of the wine cellar, a Hungarian, a winemaker in the third generation. Winemaking here is a family business, which is why the vineyards are scattered around the owner's house. On more than 7 hectares, he grows 60 varieties of grapes, from which 20 types of noble drink are prepared according to traditional and author's recipes. You can try them all during the tasting: Chardonnay, Riesling, Merlot, Port. Red and white, dry and sweet, they are all aged in oak barrels according to production technologies.

For four hundred years, real magic has been happening in this tasting cellar: candles, homemade wine and cheese, fascinating stories from the owner of the manor. Not just wine is made here, but drinks that were loved by the Celtic tribes. Most of the names are completely unfamiliar to us: graggert, fraoshan, oruho. Is it possible to miss the opportunity to taste them?

And the most interesting thing: you can get healthy here. And local tinctures on the fruits of wild berries and herbs act as medicines. Local wine and cheese are no less authentic. Only traditional old recipes and local raw materials. All this turns into an unparalleled range of tastes.

When talking about this place, it is tempting to say "unique" all the time. This word describes the Paraska Family Cellar like no other. The very history of this place is impressive: the basement was created by captured Italians 100 years ago.

People come here from all over to try the unique (ah, that word again!) "Ice wine". It is prepared from grapes collected after frost. The technology of its production is very risky and expensive, but the result is definitely worth it. The finished drink has the taste of raisins.

This place appeared on the gastronomic map of Transcarpathia quite recently, but managed to win its fans. The house in which guests are received here is more like a museum of winemaking. That's what makes him interesting.

The owners of the winery are proud of the fact that they use only traditional, natural components in production, and the raw materials for the future drink are grown in an ecologically clean area.

Hotel in the Carpathians, tasting room and wine cellar in one bottle! This place is ideal for fully enjoying the exquisite taste of wine. The owner believes that this drink should not be tasted in the basement, but on an open terrace, enjoying the surrounding nature. By the way, he grows more than 250 varieties of grapes for his wines.

But if your plans do not include leaving the cozy territory of Voevodyno, but you still want to join the wine culture, we have good news for you.

In our Wine-bar you can arrange a full tasting of local wines. You will taste the Transcarpathian wines of TM "Kontar" and "Chizay", as well as homemade Hungarian wine, which we exclusively order under our own trademark "Shenborn Park".

Moreover, our guests will soon be able to taste wine produced directly at the resort. Last year, a vineyard appeared on our territory. In it, we grow exactly those varieties from which Hungarian wines are made.

Come to Voevodyno! Ideal rest in Transcarpathia closer than it seems.
