Here comes August, the last month of summer, in which three Saviors are traditionally celebrated. According to the new church calendar used by the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, the dates of the Savior's celebration in 2025 are as follows: Honey Savior - August 1, Apple Savior - August 6, and Walnut Savior - August 16.

What does the holiday of Apple Spas mean?
In the Christian tradition, August 6 is the feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord. On this day, believers remember the transfiguration of Jesus Christ during prayer on Mount Tabor. And among the people, this holiday is celebrated as the Apple Savior, which symbolizes a pre-Christian rite dedicated to the period of apple ripening.
This holiday belongs to cheerful religious celebrations. The people celebrate it widely and on a grand scale - they bless grapes and apples in churches, set festive tables, treat relatives and guests with delicious dishes. From this day on, it is already allowed to eat apples and grapes, since before that the Hutsuls only prepared and stored them. It was considered unacceptable to eat them before the Savior, so as not to bring trouble on themselves and their relatives.
Our ancestors believed that it was at this time that honey and nuts had the greatest healing power and benefits, and apples, which were considered a symbol of the family, brought health, comfort, and prosperity to the family.
