Astronomy in Detail: A Calendar Encrypted in the Landscape
Schönborn Park – it is not just a walking area, but a real clock, carved in stone and metal. Its structure is subject to strict mathematical logic:
- 365 stones of Lake Tur are the central object of the park. The lake, which hides the main mystery of the year. An island in the middle of the water, which repeats the contours of the Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1867, is laid out with exactly 365 stone blocks. Each stone symbolizes one day of the year. And for leap years, an additional, 366th stone is provided on the pier;
- Seven lanterns of the entrance alley – your journey begins with the main alley, which is illuminated by 7 unique wrought-iron lanterns. They symbolize the days of the week, reminding you of the rhythm of the full life cycle;
- 24 hours around the water – if you decide to walk around the lake’s perimeter, you will count 24 lanterns. They represent the number of hours in a day, emphasizing the value of every moment spent in harmony;
- 12 Zodiac Bridges – As you cross small streams, you cross 12 bridges. Each of them corresponds to one month of the year and one sign of the Zodiac. Find your bridge, stop for a minute, because this is the perfect moment for inner dialogue and making wishes.
Lake Tur and the magic of water
The lake is fed by 4 locks that represent the seasons. In spring, they open the way to turbulent streams, filling everything around with life, and in winter they freeze, as if inviting the park to sleep.
The springs of the park deserve special attention. If you feel thirsty, visit the spring of Empress Sisi (Elizabeth of Bavaria) or the spring of St. Nicholas. Their water gives a real Carpathian coolness and strength. And for those who are looking for wild authenticity, there is a preserved Celtic spring, which restorers deliberately left untouched, covered with ancient moss, like hundreds of years ago.
Bridge of the Four Evangelists: aristocratic spirit
One of the most magnificent structures in the park is the Bridge of the Four Evangelists. Built in an elegant Baroque style, it resembles the famous Charles Bridge in Prague. It is decorated with sculptures of saints, which gives the bridge a special sense of historical depth. - birch and willow - represent flexibility, purity of thoughts and emotional recovery;
- apple tree and linden tree - symbols of love, family comfort and spiritual generosity;
- Pine and cypress are responsible for fortitude and the ability to adapt to any life challenges.
Each of these 22 trees represents a certain psychotype. The Celts believed that a patron tree could take away the fatigue of its ward and fill him with vital energy.
