Why are we constantly tired: hidden reasons and how the Carpathians help us recover
Many people are familiar with this condition – it seems like you’ve had enough sleep and had a weekend, but the feeling of fatigue doesn’t go away. Instead of lightness, there’s heaviness in the body, instead of the desire to act, there’s apathy. This is not laziness or weakness, it’s a sign of deep exhaustion that modern man faces.
According to WHO, chronic fatigue has become one of the most common complaints. More than 60% of the adult population experience constant exhaustion that does not go away after sleep. But the worst thing is that we have become accustomed to this condition and have begun to accept fatigue as the norm.
Causes of chronic fatigue
Chronic fatigue is the body's signal that something is wrong, that resources are exhausted, and that recovery is needed.
We are used to ignoring these signals. Drinking more coffee. Working through force. Telling ourselves we have to endure. But you can't fool the body. Sooner or later it will stop you – through illness, burnout, depression.
Physical fatigue goes away after sleep. But emotional and nervous fatigue does not. If the brain is constantly under stress, the body does not have time to switch to recovery mode. What are the causes of this condition:
- Chronic stress and cortisol failure – our body responds to stress by releasing cortisol, the stress hormone. News, deadlines, financial bills, uncertainty – the body reacts the same way. And this in turn causes – sleep disturbances, constant fatigue, weight gain, decreased immunity, problems with memory and concentration, emotional instability;
- information overload of the brain – the brain of a modern person processes a huge amount of information per day. Each switching between tasks (and we do this hundreds of times a day) consumes brain energy. Every message, every news, every scroll of the feed is a micro-stress for the nervous system;
- circadian rhythm disturbances – millions of years of evolution have tuned us to the rhythm of nature: dawn – activity, sunset – sleep. This is built into our genes. In modern people with their rhythm of life (we look at screens until night, work different shifts, eat late at night, sleep with our phone by the bed), such a biological clock is broken, the sleep hormone is not produced correctly;
- oxygen starvation of the city – in the average city air, oxygen is 20-30% less than it should be for optimal body function. In the mountains – 30-40% more. With a lack of oxygen, the immune system weakens, mood worsens, the brain slows down, as it does not receive enough energy;
- nature deficiency syndrome – according to recent studies, modern people spend 90% of their time indoors, an average city child plays outside for 4-7 minutes a day, adults spend less than 5% of their time in nature. But our brain, nervous and hormonal systems are tuned to natural stimuli – the sound of leaves, birdsong, green color, the ground under our feet, uneven surfaces, fresh air;
- emotional exhaustion – invisible fatigue when emotional resources are exhausted. When you have to constantly “keep your face”, control your reactions, be “on top”, meet expectations;
- Vitamin deficiency – deficiencies of magnesium, vitamin D, iron, B vitamins, and Omega-3 provoke chronic fatigue, depression, weak immunity, and pain in muscles and joints.
Why regular rest doesn't help
We often notice that a simple weekend of lying on the couch or watching TV shows doesn't help. We feel the same tiredness and exhaustion from Monday on, over and over again.
True recovery is not about the absence of work, but about actively replenishing the resources that are lacking.
What is needed for the recovery process:
- change of environment;
- contact with nature;
- not strenuous physical activity;
- quality sleep in silence and darkness;
- disconnecting from digital devices;
- social recovery – quality communication or, conversely, loneliness.
Carpathians: unique factors of recovery
Recharging your energy in the Carpathians works in a comprehensive way – fresh mountain air, natural landscapes, lack of noise and a slow pace of life, disconnection from the digital world, walks in the mountains help reduce stress levels and reboot the nervous system. That is why the Carpathians are often chosen by those who are looking for emotional recovery.
After all, in the Carpathians, the pace of life is completely different - quiet and unhurried mornings, clean air, natural silence and a sense of spaciousness around. In places where nature is preserved to the maximum, recovery occurs gently and deeply. It is here that it is easier:
