People have long used numerous signs on Ivan Kupala. They predicted the weather, harvest, health, and even personal fate. Many of these beliefs have survived to this day and are still part of Ukrainian cultural heritage.<\/p>\n

Signs about the weather and harvest<\/h2>\n

For people whose lives depended on the land, observing nature was a necessity. That is why most Kupala omens concerned the future harvest and weather.<\/p>\n

Our ancestors believed that abundant dew on the morning of Ivan Kupala promised a bountiful harvest of vegetables, wheat, rye, and medicinal herbs. The thicker the grass turned silver at dawn, the richer the year would be.<\/p>\n

Special attention was also paid to the night sky. If the Kupala night was clear and starry, many mushrooms were expected in the Carpathian forests in the fall. And rain on the day of the holiday was considered a good sign for the fields and gardens, as it promised enough moisture for the future harvest.<\/p>\n

A foggy dawn was also considered a good sign. It was said that such a morning foreshadowed a rich harvest of berries and forest fruits.<\/p>\n

Kupala dew: a symbol of health and youth<\/h2>\n

A special place among the Kupala signs was occupied by morning dew. It was believed that it had special power on the night of Ivan Kupala. Girls washed themselves with dew for beauty and youth, and housewives collected it on towels, believing that it helped to preserve the health and well-being of the family.<\/p>\n

There was a belief that a person who walked barefoot through the dew at dawn would be healthy throughout the year. Today it sounds like a beautiful legend, but even a modern person will agree - a summer morning in nature can give a feeling of freshness and inner renewal.<\/p>\n

Signs about love<\/h2>\n

The most romantic Kupala traditions, of course, were related to love.<\/p>\n

Girls wove wreaths of wildflowers and herbs, and in the evening they released them into the water to learn their fate by the movement of the wreath. If the wreath stayed on the water for a long time and floated with the current, it was considered a good sign and foretold a quick meeting with the betrothed. If the wreath stuck to the shore or sank, the wedding had to be postponed.<\/p>\n

There was another interesting sign - if a guy catches a girl's wreath, true love can arise between them.<\/p>\n

The healing power of Kupala herbs<\/h2>\n

In the Carpathians, herbs collected on Ivan Kupala were especially revered. People believed that on this night, plants accumulate the greatest power of the sun and the earth.<\/p>\n

The collected herbs were dried and used to make teas, infusions, and amulets. In many villages of Transcarpathia, Kupala bouquets are still collected today and kept in the home throughout the year as a symbol of well-being and protection.<\/p>\n

Why did our ancestors observe nature so closely?<\/h2>\n

We are used to getting the weather forecast from our smartphones, but our ancestors relied on their own observation.<\/p>\n

It is not without reason that folk signs have always had a special significance in the Carpathians. After all, a lot depended on the weather in the Carpathians - the future harvest, haymaking, grazing of livestock and the well-being of the family. That is why people carefully observed nature, studied read her signs<\/a> and took into account the morning fog, the behavior of birds, the amount of dew or the appearance of the night sky.<\/p>\n

Many signs were the result of years of observations passed down from generation to generation.<\/p>\n

Today, we no longer take folk signs literally. However, they remain a part of our culture and remind us of the special connection between man and nature.<\/p>\n

It is in the Carpathians that this atmosphere is felt especially acutely. When dusk descends over the mountains and the dawn mist covers the valleys, it is easy to understand why our ancestors believed in the magic of Kupala Night.<\/p>\n

Perhaps the secret of Ivan Kupala is not in predictions or mystical legends at all. It is in the fact that this holiday reminds us of the beauty of summer, the power of nature, and the ability to notice the little miracles around us.<\/p>\n

Where to feel the atmosphere of Kupala Night<\/h2>\n

And although today most of the signs have remained part of folk art, the magic of Ivan Kupala itself has not disappeared. It can still be felt in the midst of nature, where summer smells of herbs, forests, and warm river water.<\/p>\n
